Japan Day
Saturday was Japan Day in Manchester.
The Japan Society for North West England organised a series of events to run in the Great Hall of Manchester Town Hall.
The video clip is of Tamashii Daiko, a group of Taiko drummers
In September last year the Society invited the public to Dip into Japan in Lymm. The success of the event, with between 150 and 200 people attending, has encouraged your Society to be more ambitious by organising a Japan Day in the Great Hall of Manchester Town Hall. The Society is delighted that its patron, the Japanese Ambassador, has accepted our invitation to attend.
There were lots of stalls showing everything from samurai swords and armour to haiku (poetry) and as well as the drummers there were demonstration on everything from the correct way to wear a kimono to various martial arts.
It was a good day and very enjoyable. So much so that I have joined the society and am looking forward to attending future events.
