Shopping In Manchester
Julie (my sister) joined me last Friday for a weekend. We ended up spending most of the time shopping.
In the video clip we are inside Manchester's Arndale shopping centre, looking out to the big wheel.
I was rather caught out when I got home after work on Friday night to find a message on my answering machine from Julie, saying she would arrive in 20 minutes. I hadn't expected to see her for another three hours, but she had decided to catch an earlier train. This change in schedule meant I hadn't even made the bed in the spare room before I had to walk down to the station to meet her.
Neither of us had eaten. So after dropping off her case back at my house, we jumped on the bus to Levenshulme and ate at the Nawaab Indian restaurant. Its a massive self-service buffet, so you get the opportunity to try a variety of dishes you perhaps wouldn't be brave enough to try if ordering in a traditional restaurant.
On Saturday, after spending a bit of time on-line helping Dominic (Julie's eldest son) with his home work, we took a walk into Stockport and then take a train ride to Manchester. We spent most of the time looking for Chinese clothes!
Julie is attending a fancy dress party soon, and the theme this time is nationalities of the world. Julie had already decided to dress in a Chinese style, but didn't like the costume she was going to wear.
I knew there was a fancy dress shop in Stockport, so this was our first port of call. Julie didn't find a costume she liked, but she did try on several wigs to cover her blond hair. You can see her final choice in the photo.
When we left Piccadilly Station and were walking into Manchester, we needed to find a public toilet. I remembered there was one in Afleck's Palace, so we ended up climbing to the top floor. While there Julie spotted a boutique selling Chinese outfits.
There were lots of very nice outfits, but I guess most Chinese girls are more flat chested that Julie as we had great difficulty finding one that would fit her chest.
After choosing the pink top, it was off to China Town.
We went through quite a few shops until Julie had found all the accessories she needed for the outfit; shoes, hat and a fan.
In the evening, we continued the Asian theme to the day by having dinner at Wagamamas and then returning home to watch a DVD of The House of Flying Daggers.
It was really nice spending a weekend with my sister, and hopefully she will visit again soon
